It begins and ends with the Gospel

I have heard it many times, I think I used to actually think it myself. The gospel is the story of how to get saved, its a wonderful story of redemption and love, but after we 'accept" this and get saved, then it's time to really dig into the deep stuff. Dive into theology and doctrine, study church history etc. We leave the foundation of God's plan for His glory behind for the lesser things! Everything, all of it, every aspect of life, every breath we take is for and about the Gospel. It is all there is. The foundation of the world was built on the Gospel. All of creation was made for the Gospel. Don't leave it behind. Don't long for deeper study on other theological issues, there is nothing deeper and harder to grasp and understand then the glorious Gospel. Preach it to yourself everyday, preach it like you would tell someone who never heard it before, don't let yourselves relax and get comfortable with the fact that God became man to be murdered in your place and you are a filthy depraved person that deserves the darkest place in hell, YET He died for you, and welcomes you as a son or daughter, nothing is greater than that.

My Savior

I haven't written in here for a while, been so busy with other projects but I need to remember to do this blog as it keeps my thought on my Savior. We need to remember to actively take time to think about, to pray to, read about and meditate on our Savior. We can get so busy and give a mental acknowledgement to his character and who He is. We can understand His holiness and have all the correct theology. But He bought us, and though He did do this to bring glory to Himself, he still desires a relationship with us. I think because I used to always think of Jesus as my cosmic best friend that could get me out of a jam when needed, I had a low, "Jesus is my pal" mentality. When He opened my eye to Who He really is and his high and holy place in my life and all of creation I had to move away from the "Jesus is my friend" stance and move more toward, "I bow at his mighty feet and dare not look up, for He is so High" But we can have that correct mentality of Who He is and still revere Him and worship Him, yet He loves us dearly and is merciful, loving and wants us to get to know him and have a real relationship with Him. What a wonderful Savior! What a good God. Words can not express how amazing it all is.

Heb 4:13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Heb 4:14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Heb 4:16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Christ~ God of Joy

It has been quite a while since my last post here, lots going on. I realized something recently, I have joy! Before I was truly saved I always wondered why I never had any joy, I knew that:
"...for the joy of the LORD is your strength." Neh 8:10. I felt tired, and had no strength. I know know that you need the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to have joy, this is not something we can have on our own, we can't manufacture it. This is 100% a gift of God, is not based on circumstance, or even on happiness. When we have joy it is accompanied by a deep abiding peace. Only a peace that Christ can give.

Rom 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 5:2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Rom 5:3 More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, Rom 5:4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, Rom 5:5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

My Testimony

Exerpt from my interview on Truth Be Told Radio.

The Story of His Reign in Us: The Age of the Living Dead (Ephesians 2:1-10)

This is an excellent sermon, probably the best I have ever heard, take the 50 mins to listen!

Eph 2:1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
Eph 2:2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience--
Eph 2:3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
Eph 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved--
Eph 2:6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Eph 2:7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Eph 2:9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
